چکیده

Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is the method of choice for analysis of most elements across the periodic chart. Its multi-element capability, low detection limit (ppt), and wide dynamic range (109 orders of magnitude) also make it ideal for the measurement of inorganic engineered nanoparticles (ENPs). While ICP-MS can be used directly to obtain concentrations of nanoparticulate-associated elements, more information on characteristics of ENPs can be obtained by first separating the particles by size prior to ICP-MS analysis. The most versatile size-separation technique is field flow fractionation (FFF). By introducing sizefractionated material into the ICP-MS, the size and elemental composition of complex, polydisperse and chemically heterogeneous ENPs can be determined. Furthermore, the similar flow conditions required by both ICP-MS and FFF make interfacing relatively simple.

In-house validation of a method for determination of silver nanoparticles in chicken meat based on asymmetric flow field-flow fractionation and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometric detection.

Nanomaterials are increasingly used in food production and packaging, and validated methods for detection of nanoparticles (NPs) in foodstuffs need to be developed both for regulatory purposes and product development. Asymmetric flow field-flow fractionation with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometric detection (AF(4)-ICP-MS) was applied for quantitative analysis of silver nanoparticles ...

Inorganic mass spectrometry as a tool for characterisation at the nanoscale.

Inorganic mass spectrometry techniques may offer great potential for the characterisation at the nanoscale, because they provide unique elemental information of great value for a better understanding of processes occurring at nanometre-length dimensions. Two main groups of techniques are reviewed: those allowing direct solid analysis with spatial resolution capabilities, i.e. lateral (imaging) ...

Analysis of whole bacterial cells by flow field-flow fractionation and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry.

The purpose of this study is to develop a novel bacterial analysis method by coupling the flow field-flow fractionation (flow FFF) separation technique with detection by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry. The composition of carrier liquid used for flow FFF was selected based on retention of bacterial cells and compatibility with the MALDI p...
